Paralympics als Spielfeld der Weltpolitik – Handherz-Geste hält dagegen

Vom 7. bis 18.9.2016 fanden die Paralympics – das sind die Olympischen Spiele für Sportler mit Behinderung – in Rio de Janeiro statt. Im Vorfeld der Paralympics hatte das Paralympische Komitee IPC alle 267 russischen Athleten wegen angeblichem Staatsdoping von den Spielen ausgeschlossen. Der Ausschluss geht auf Vorwürfe des kanadischen Juristen Richard McLaren zurück, der die Untersuchung der Welt-Anti-Doping-Agentur (WADA) leitete. Der US-amerikanische Journalist Rick Sterling erklärt den McLaren-Bericht wegen Mangel an konkreten Beweisen jedoch als unglaubwürdig. McLaren selbst sagte: „Wir werden keine Beweise veröffentlichen, weil wir die Quellen der Informationen schützen müssen.“ Auch das Internationale Olympische Komitee (IOC) warte bis heute noch auf Belege für den Vorwurf des Staatsdopings russischer Sportler, so IOC-Präsident Thomas Bach. Andreas Maurer, Mitglied des Landesvorstandes „die Linke“ kritisiert diesen Ausschluss: „Eine Kollektivstrafe ist eigentlich nur aus Staaten bekannt, wo keine Rechtsstaatlichkeit gilt. […] Genau das verurteilen wir aufs Schärfste, dass auf dem Spielfeld Weltpolitik betrieben wird.“ Der offensichtlich politische Entscheid des IPC scheint wieder einmal ein Versuch zu sein, einen Spaltkeil zwischen das russische Volk und den Rest der Welt zu treiben. Dass sich jedoch noch lange nicht alle Menschen gegeneinander oder gegen ein anderes Volk aufhetzen lassen wollen, zeigt eine Handgeste, die an den Olympischen Spielen in Rio 2016 vermehrt zu beobachten war. In Rio 2016 feierten viele Sportlerinnen und Sportler ihre Erfolge nicht mehr mit dem Victory-Zeichen, sondern mit einer neuen Geste: Daumen und Zeigefinger werden zusammengehalten und formen ein Herz. Das als Botschaft der Völkerverbrüderung verstandene Handherz stieβ jedoch auch auf Kritik. Der deutsche Kulturjournalist Felix Scharlau z.B. nannte sie eine „Holzhammergeste für die hypnotisierte Masse“ sowie „die wohl schlimmste Volksseuche seit der spanischen Grippe“. Der „Holzhammer“ dieses Journalisten, als Reaktion auf das herzvolle Handzeichen, zeigt deutlich, wie wichtig diese Geste für die Völker ist. Mag sein, dass manche das Zeichen nur aus Coolness machen oder andere lediglich nachahmen. Und doch kann jeder zum Ausdruck gebrachte Wunsch nach Völkerverbrüderung als wichtiger Schritt verstanden werden: Die Völker wollen sich nicht mehr durch den Informationskrieg gegeneinander aufhetzen lassen!
