Press Conference of High-ranking German Military Officers

When generals whose trade is war warn of it, all of the alarm bells should be ringing. But do we hear anything about it in the media? With this broadcast, kla.tv is once again doing the job that the mass media should be doing. On February 19, 2023, kla.tv reported on the open letters of two high-ranking generals that were handed over to the defense attaché of the Russian Embassy, Sergei Chukhrov, in Berlin on January 30, 2023. These letters have not only overcome ideological boundaries; in France, high-ranking military officials have expressed their “unconditional” support. In the U.S. too resistance is now growing among generals and veterans’ associations. For example, the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, General Mark A. Milley, Colonel Douglas Macgregor and ex-UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter are in favor of ending the war. Behind the open letters of the German generals is an initiative of 28 organizations united in the East German Board of Trustees of Associations (OKV). These are campaigning for dialogue instead of arms deliveries to the Ukraine. They also denounce the suppression of freedom of speech and expression. The press conference of the OKV took place on March 27, 2023 to give members and sympathizers a voice for peace. High-ranking personages from the German military, science, culture and society in general, in the following, show the broad social resistance against the war course of the German government. Sebald Daum, Major General (ret.): Why are Western governments in Europe unwilling to listen to opinions of experienced military men, their own military men, like Generals Kujat, Vad, Schultze-Rhonhof and many others who can very well analyze and judge where such a policy leads? Hans Bauer, Vice President of OKV: How has it actually been possible to make a large part of the people here in Germany ready for war? And the predominantly dependent media, the so-called fourth estate, play a decisive role in this. Thus Germany and Germany’s public broadcasters such as Deutschlandfunk are fueling this atmosphere of hate agitation and denunciation around the clock. Critical channels on the internet are blocked. It is therefore no wonder if a large part of the population is muzzled or dumbed down. Gerhard Fuchs-Kittowski, Chairman of the German Peace Council Why do we criticize Russia for having only state and oligarchy media, whereas we with our value-based public broadcasters on the one hand and the Burdas, Springers and Bertelmanns on the other hand, demonstrate that we can do it just as well as the Russians? Greeting Regina Silbermann, Chairwoman of the LAG German-Russian Friendship Saxony, DIE LINKE All US military bases must leave Germany and also leave the whole of Europe. Nowhere are the military bases as dense as in Europe. Now that Russia is so terribly threatened by the West, there is a risk that Russia will have to destroy these military bases before it is destroyed itself. Prof. Dr. Schreiber, Colonel (ret.) In the wake of the 4+2 treaty, the Missile Command in Wiesbaden was deactivated and, significantly, reactivated in November 21 with the goal of achieving full operational readiness in Summer 23. Wolfgang Effenberger, Author The same circles that instrumentalized national conflicts for their interests 100 years ago are at work again today. Once again, they are recklessly gambling and accept the danger of a world war and thus new, immeasurable suffering. Prof. Dr. Joachim Wernicke, Scientist This war is the result of events in Europe since the end of the Cold War in 1989. If one looks more closely, a clear trail emerges which one may not believe at first. A chain of misconduct by West German and then reunified German governments leads directly to the Ukraine war. Prof. Dr. Schreiber, Colonel (ret.) A peculiarity is that the war material securing the Ukraine is almost completely in the hands of the West. And because of that this war has reached quasi worldwide dimension in real terms. Helga Zepp-LaRouche, Federal Chairwoman of the Citizens’ Movement Solidarity (BüSo) We are currently at the mercy of forces that have surrendered all sovereignty and with their policies are risking Germany’s existence. Wolfgang Effenberger, Author The conditions for a free democratic society are hardly present today. We must not allow ourselves to be manipulated into a war by means of lies as happened in 1999 during the war in Yugoslavia. After the USA did not get a UN mandate for the war against Yugoslavia in 1999, they have been mandating their wars themselves ever since. Thus the law of the fist rules! Hans Bauer, Vice President of the OMC Without freedom of information there is no freedom of opinion, no debate culture in which citizens can form an opinion through information, knowledge, debate and deliberation. Sebald Daum, Major General (ret.) Therefore, we must no longer be silent. All peace-loving people must help with our voices and our actions that Germany comes out of this war spiral and resumes good neighborly relations with Russia. Let us protest against the measures that lead to the prolongation of the war in Ukraine. Let us prevent the war cries. But let us also prevent that once again in Germany people who raise their voices for peace and against any war be oppressed, threatened and imprisoned. Friedemann Munkelt, Colonel (ret.) The task of a united peace movement must be to stop the hotheads of this world and to prevent a great and probably last war. Helga Zepp-LaRouche, Federal Chairwoman of the Citizens’ Movement Solidarity (BüSo) The most important thing now is to come as quickly as possible, with the help of all possible forces, to a ceasefire in Ukraine and to peace negotiations that take into account the interests of the Ukraine and Russia. Their help as mediators has been offered by: President Xi Jin Ping with his 12-point plan, President Lula of Brazil with a peace club, several countries of the global South, President Erdogan and very importantly, Pope Francis. It is obvious that all of these people cannot be accused of being “Putin sympathizers”. Prof. Dr. Schreiber, Retired Colonel Peace in the Ukraine will only come about together with Russia and not against and certainly not by defeating Russia. Sebald Daum, Major General (ret.) In the great danger in which we and the peoples of Europe currently find ourselves, we no longer have time to argue about party-political differences and different socio-political orientations. In this situation we should focus on what unites us. We close this summary of the press conference with the quote of Hans Bauer (Vice President of the OMC): “Only an enlightened citizen and an enlightened people can force politics, this war policy, to turn around”.
