Scientists demand stop for research on horror viruses! – Bio laboratories in Ukraine

Two and a half weeks after the beginning of the war in Ukraine, on March 11, 2022, t-online published in its news portal the news: "WHO advises Ukraine to destroy pathogens in laboratories" , which probably caused a new shock wave worldwide. Previous warnings from Russia about the existence of such biolabs had been dismissed as fake. Now the WHO has confirmed it. There are Pentagon laboratories in 25 countries worldwide! In Ukraine, such bio-labs were maintained by the USA especially in the years 2014 to 2017, because during this period the funding of GOF [gain of function] experiments, especially with influenza, SARS and MERS viruses, had been suspended in their own country. In Ukraine, U.S. bio-labs are known to exist in nine major cities. Now Vassily Nebenzia, Russia's ambassador to the United Nations, brought new evidence that there are at least 30 suspicious biolabs in Ukraine that are jointly funded by the United States under its Defense Threat Reduction Agency [military branch of the Department of Defense]. Gain-of-function research, or GOF, is conducted at these so-called biolabs or research facilities. GOF is a controversial area of biomedical research that involves endowing organisms with new capabilities and experimenting on how to adapt these to the organism. For example, naturally occurring viruses are adapted through changes in the gene sequence so that pathogens that normally do not pass from animals to humans can then enter human cells after all. Put simply, pathogens are engineered in the laboratory to become more contagious! Supposedly, this is to research how the pathogens could be better fought in a natural environment with corresponding mutations. The fact is, however, that the outcome of such experiments is often difficult or even impossible to predict. One such bad case occurred in South and Central America in 2015. The Zika virus, which until then had been completely harmless to humans, was made dangerous by gene alterations, especially for unborn life. It caused a birth defect in the fetus, microcephaly, a significant reduction in the size of the skull with possible mental developmental delay. Due to the risk of unforeseeable consequences of the GOF research described, work may only be carried out in high-security laboratories. According to the Tagesspiegel, 59 of these are in operation worldwide with the highest bio-safety level 4. They are designed in such a way that very dangerous viruses and bacteria, which cause serious diseases and against which there are no known antidotes or vaccines, can be researched there. However, they said, there are no binding international standards for working safely and responsibly with pathogens. There is therefore no biotechnology laboratory in the world that is safe enough to guarantee that such genetically modified viruses cannot escape. One of these high-security laboratories is also located in Wuhan, China, which was blamed for the Corona outbreak. Dr. Christian Drosten, chief virologist at Berlin's Charité hospital, one of the founders and proponents of gain-of-function research, admitted in an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung on Feb. 8, 2022: "Things were definitely done in Wuhan that could be described as dangerous." End-quote. Clearly, this kind of research carries the risk of severe pandemics! Given this background, the WHO's recommendation to Ukraine to destroy highly dangerous pathogens in its laboratories to prevent possible spread due to military attacks is all too understandable. This danger and the risk associated with this research, which could wipe out large parts of the world's population, have prompted 45 international scientific researchers to make an urgent demand. The so-called "Hamburg Declaration" immediately called for a "worldwide end to high-risk gain-of-function research" on pathogens. According to their findings, there was a danger that far more dangerous viruses than the corona virus could be created in laboratories. The necessary halt to this branch of science requires monitoring and continuous control by an independent international supervisory authority. It is the responsibility of scientists and the media worldwide to point out this huge potential danger and to raise awareness among politicians as well as society as a whole.
