According to Article 4 of the Radio and Television Act, the broadcast violates the requirement of factual accuracy. For this reason, I am submitting this complaint. The reasons why the 10 vor 10 broadcast violates the principle of factual accuracy are listed in detail below (complaints 1 – 5). Complaint from: Ms. Loisa Sasek Production Manager Kla.TV Nord 33 9428 Walzenhausen Tel. 071 888 14 31 lois.sasek@kla.tv Complaint concerns the following program: 10 vor 10 broadcast on March 12, 2024 Broadcast time: 9:50 p.m. Link to the program: https://www.srf.ch/play/tv/10-vor-10/video/10-vor-10-vom-12-03-2024?urn=urn:srf:video:fa6d885b-707e-49b3-bcf3-8f627eb1b7e7 Sequences: 00:25-00:35 | 05:27-12:42 Reason for the complaint 1. COMPLAINT Incorrect is: 10 vor 10 speaker: «Exit from cult TV: The former head of Kla.TV talks about the dubious methods used by the channel.» (min. 00:25-00:35) Correct is: Ms. Christ was never the «head of Kla.TV». In her work at Kla.TV, Ms. Christ had a technical support role, but never a management role. The 10 vor 10 broadcast gives the impression that an important «insider» of Kla.TV is having her say. That is not true. In the first year of Kla.TV, Ms. Christ only had limited support tasks. 2. COMPLAINT Incorrect is: 10 vor 10 speaker: «She [Miriam Christ] was part of this fake news factory [Kla.TV] for years.» SRF spokesperson: «Miriam Christ knows Kla.TV and the production of the sect's fake news production well. Before she left, she headed the Kla.TV studios in Switzerland for years and oversaw the production of the reports» (min. 09:23-09:40) Correct is: - Kla.TV was founded in the summer of 2012. Miriam Christ ended her work at the OCG in September 2013. The statement "years of work at Kla.TV" is a false statement and exposes Miriam Christ as an unreliable source that SRF took over without checking and without professional research. - Ms. Christ was not in charge of the Swiss Kla.TV studios. I can say this with certainty as the production manager of Kla.TV. The statement "years of management" is a false statement. As explained above, Ms. Christ was available for occasional technical queries. - The fact that Ms. Christ knows the Kla.TV editorial work well must also be considered a false statement, due to the following facts: One month before Miriam Christ gave up her job at the OCG, she was asked whether she would like to help with the editorial work on the subject of business and finance for the Handexpress newspaper "S&G", some of whose content was used as the basis for Kla.TV broadcasts. Before that happened, however, Ms. Christ left us. There was therefore no in-depth insight into the workings of the S&G editorial team. - Due to the fact that Ms. Christ started her new 80% job in the summer of 2012, when Kla.TV was launched in the Lucerne area, Ms. Christ had little time to work at Kla.TV or the S&G editorial team. 3. COMPLAINT Wrong is: Miriam Christ: «I wrote articles myself at the time and the only fact check that took place was that the link was clicked and we checked whether this reporting really existed. But we were never told that we had to look for reputable sources. Instead, we actually visited strange, unverified sites and reproduced the content. The motto was: the main thing is that it contradicts the mass media.» (Min. 09:53-10:19) Correct is: This statement by Ms. Christ is wrong. Kla.TV attaches great importance to having the most reputable sources possible and discloses these to the audience in the broadcast text. This is with the aim of promoting free opinion formation through the source information. The Kla.TV editorial team has never given instructions that suggest that the value of a source should be measured by the degree of contradiction to the statements of the mass media. I see the fact that Ms. Christ researched the S&G articles she submitted in an unprofessional manner as proof that she did not understand the editorial work of Kla.TV and lacked a deeper insight into the working methods of the Kla.TV editorial team. Miriam Christ has spread false statements here. By the way: people who use sources in the way Miriam Christ describes are offered further training in the Kla.TV team and are not promoted to management positions without journalistic expertise. The fact that this unconventional approachWe are very sorry that Ms. Christ's approach was not noticed by the S&G editorial team at the time and that Kla.TV used it according to Miriam's statements. Like SRF, we are constantly working on further education and training for our editors. 4. COMPLAINT Incorrect: Miriam Christ: "I regret that I contributed to Kla.TV becoming so big." (min. 12:15-12:19) Correct: As already explained in the 2nd complaint, Ms. Christ was only involved in Kla.TV's work for one year and in a technical support role. At that time, Kla.TV was still in its early stages and cannot be compared to today. The individual video contributions had a few hundred views. So there can be no talk of Ms. Christ having contributed to Kla.TV becoming big. This claim by Ms. Christ is fraud, as are the other statements by her mentioned. The fact that Kla.TV has achieved a greater reach today is thanks to the many loyal employees who, despite numerous slanders and hostilities from the compulsory-financed mass media, have helped unwaveringly, highly motivated and voluntarily to publish numerous important video contributions in recent years. 5. COMPLAINT During the 10 vor 10 broadcast, our Internet TV station was repeatedly bombarded with defamatory and disparaging labels: • Sect TV (min. 00:28) • Crude conspiracy theories [were spread on Kla.TV] (min. 05:55) • Fake news factory (min. 06:02) • Fake news production by the sect (min. 09:27) The "10 vor 10" report does not give any reasons that would justify such defamatory labels: Not a single statement in the over 20,000 video contributions is exposed as demonstrably false. Not a single dubious source is specifically named. This despite the fact that Miriam Christ's statements give SRF viewers the impression that there are plenty of them. We firmly reject these descriptions - they do not correspond to the truth, but are defamatory, slanderous and reputation-damaging titles. CONCLUSION By publishing the numerous false statements, the SRF is treading on thin ice legally. We hereby demand a correction in "10 vor 10" to the above-mentioned false statements. The corrections must be published in full at the same broadcast time and in the same broadcast format! Otherwise we will be forced to take legal action. On the false claim of management function (para. 15 ff.): Barbara Lehmann now admits that the SRF was inaccurate with the title "Head of Kla.TV" and that it was an "abbreviation" of the title "Head of the Kla.TV studios in Switzerland". But that is still not true, because, as mentioned, Miriam Christ only had a technical support function at Kla.TV. Miriam Christ never had anything to do with production management, i.e. content, editorial and personnel management of Kla.TV. A comparison to the so-called "abbreviation" of the SRF: It's like calling the "Mayor of Nebraska" the "President of the United States" as an abbreviation. These are two completely different positions. The SRF believed an email from Simon Sasek from which it deduced that "Miriam Christ [...] was an important and leading figure at Kla.TV". The activities of Miriam Christ at Panorama-Film described by Simon Sasek in the email may be largely correct. But as we all know, you shouldn't compare apples and oranges. Panorama-Film produced several Christian feature films and accompanied major Christian events with a camera team. Just because Miriam Christ had small technical responsibilities at Panorama-Film long before Kla.TV was created (from 2006) and spent a lot of time on location in the studio (which Simon Sasek falsely presents as a staff and management function within the entire film work of the OCG in Walzenhausen), she was by no means the head of Kla.TV, as SRF claimed in prime time in front of the whole of Switzerland. Kla.TV enwas created at a time (2012) when Miriam Christ no longer lived in Wolfhalden (a village next to Walzenhausen) and her career was taking up all of her time. From that point on, she had hardly any capacity left and was therefore only responsible for a few technical matters. To speak of Miriam Christ as the "former head of Kla.TV" who regrets that she "contributed to Kla.TV becoming so big" is and remains a fraudulent lie. Miriam no longer had much capacity to support Panorama-Film from 2011 (before Kla.TV was founded), as she completed her bachelor's degree and an internship in Adliswil and then moved even further away to Lucerne. She wanted to set up a Kla.TV studio there, but that never happened. 2. On the incorrect representation of the duration and role of the activity (para. 19 ff.) So, logically speaking, Miriam Christ could not have held a "staff and management position" (para. 17, 20) at Kla.TV for several years if the station - which has nothing to do with Panorama-Film in terms of content - was only founded shortly before she left. I stand by my statement that Miriam Christ never managed the Kla.TV studios in Switzerland - not even for a year. Barbara Lehmann considers this statement to be "incorrect" "according to research by the ‹10v10› editorial team" (para. 20). This "research" is obviously based only on Miriam Christ's own claim and on a single email from Simon Sasek. Since this is obviously a case of word against word, I have now questioned Kla.TV editors, managers and collaborators who worked at Kla.TV in the first few months (until Miriam left). The same applies to the families Vxxxxxx, Sxxxxxxxxxxx, Txxxxxxxx and Rxxxx mentioned by the SRF witness, as well as Erin Gxxxxxxxx. Please read the more than 45 witness statements from Kla.TV employees who worked at Kla.TV in the first few months. Each has written their own statement in their own words about how/if they worked with Miriam Christ and, if so, how each individual performed their "function". Please remember that each letter was written and formulated by the witnesses themselves of their own free will. The SRF acted quite differently. One witness testified to us that an SRF lawyer sent him a pre-written letter with obvious false information about Miriam's "management function" to sign. Since the "witness" contacted by the SRF did not allow himself to be corrupted, this pre-written letter could not be included in the SRG statement of June 27, 2024. Another witness who was asked did not want to testify before the SRF because Miriam Christ was "not a big deal" at Kla.TV (we have the statement as evidence). There is also a witness statement that Miriam Christ admitted in a voice recording that false information was involved, but that the "witness" should sign the pre-written letter anyway. In short: I did not send a pre-written letter for signature like the SRF did, but simply asked people who worked on Kla.TV in the first few months to describe to me how they experienced Miriam Christ's work at Kla.TV and whether it corresponded to the statements made by the SRF on "10vor10". The witness statements prove that Miriam Christ never had any editorial responsibilities or even management functions in terms of content, but only provided support for technical matters. 3. Regarding the incorrect information on the fact check and the use of sources (para. 22 ff.): Barbara Lehmann rejects my statement that Miriam Christ did not understand the editorial work of Kla.TV and lacked a deeper insight into the working methods of the Kla.TV editorial team as "incorrect" (para. 21). She justifies this with the management function she misleadingly assumed, which was already refuted under 1. and 2. The fact that my statement is correct is shown by Ms. Christ's statement that sources are not checked for credibility, but only clicked to see whether the link even exists. Bettina Bxxxx, who has been the editorial director of Kla.TV and S&G from the beginning and should therefore know, writes in her testimony: "Either Ms. Christ is deliberately distorting a connection or she is confusing something: This 'link check' that she calls is part of the typesetting process at S&G. Here, during typesetting, it is checked whether all links work, as errors can always creep in during typesetting. To check the seriousness of the reporting, Kla.TV has had a separate team from the beginning that keeps an eye on the authors and checks every source that is cited for seriousness and authenticity. This is the so-called source QA team." (Numerous other attached testimonies from editorial staff also prove this). If Ms. Christ had had more in-depth insights into the editorial department, she would haveIf she had known this. The fact that she herself confuses such fundamental things shows that she has no editorial experience at Kla.TV - or that she is deliberately lying. This is not a defensive claim, as Ms. Lehmann suggests (para. 28), but the inevitable conclusion from what has been said previously. The SRF must therefore doubt Miriam Christ's statements (see para. 24). Adding an illegally acquired awareness training course from 2015, which was sent to OCG contributors for general orientation when Miriam Christ had not been with OCG for years, as proof that Kla.TV does not offer any training courses for verifying sources and for serious journalism is absolutely absurd and insane. No trace of seriousness! The target group of this training course was OCG contributors, not specifically Kla.TV editors. The topic was not about verifying sources and journalism. Just because the SRF found a "training course" that did not cover this topic, it is logically wrong to conclude that there are no such courses at all. The fact that there are indeed special training courses and further education courses for editors at Kla.TV is also clear from the witness statements, e.g. from Brigitte K., who writes: "I also confirm that the editorial staff at Kla.TV undergo regular training because I have experienced it myself." Consider the accusations that the SRF-Rundschau has to put up with: Free research is not allowed, but the editorial staff's preconceived opinions must be published (see appendix no. 3, article from the "Rheintaler"). The reporters are shown very little appreciation, the thematic planning is completely inadequate and the editor-in-chief Poletti is accused of thesis journalism - a devastating verdict! Shouldn't SRF first clean up its own backyard before relying on completely baseless statements from an imposter that lack any evidence? Finally, a brief statement on paragraphs 22-27 regarding Kla.TV's use of sources: With just a little research, Ms. Lehmann could have easily found out for herself that the examples mentioned in paragraph 26 are all properly documented with sources. See appendix no. 4. I would like to remind you that it is not Kla.TV's source situation that is extremely thin, but that of SRF. This will not change if SRF now comes up with some flimsy accusations of a lack of source evidence. 4. Defamatory and defamatory terms I stick to this: All of the statements I objected to in the "10vor10" broadcast are not true. Ms. Christ and the responsible SRF journalist Gianluca Galgani are spreading discriminatory, because completely false, statements. This is extremely defamatory and insulting. Barbara Lehmann and the SRF legal department know that publishing inappropriate facts and inciting false witnesses constitutes a criminal offense1! CONCLUSION In the report in question, numerous false factual claims are published without contradiction. The audience is thus highly manipulated in its opinion formation and is therefore unable to form a reliable picture of the topic of the program. The program gives the audience the overall impression that Ms. Christ is an important insider at Kla.TV who knows the editorial work inside out. The audience gets this impression precisely because the report contains the sentence "Before she left, she headed the Kla.TV studios in Switzerland for years..." and Ms. Christ is allowed to describe on camera how the Kla.TV editorial team supposedly works. The report is intended to convey to the audience that Ms. Christ had great influence on the content and editorial work and had extensive experience at Kla.TV. Accordingly, the article also criticizes the content and editorial care of Kla.TV ("confusing theories", "absurd statements", "fake news factory", the only fact check is supposedly to click on links, etc.). In this article, the SRF disregarded the most basic journalistic due diligence obligations. Precisely because of the high relevance of press freedom and editorial secrecy, a higher standard of care was to be expected from the SRF when it made such harsh accusations against our broadcaster at prime time. As described, the SRF's sources are extremely thin and unreliable. Key statements in the article can easily be exposed as false statements. For these reasons, my complaint must be successful. The respondent's request to dismiss the complaint is unfounded and therefore cannot be upheld. I am enclosing my complaint of May 24, 2024 to the UBI, which I still stand by. The basic idea was that she would support us in all technical work such as filming, sound recording, sound processing and video editing and also coach us so that after a certain time we could do it all ourselves. I never heard from her that she was managing all of the Kla.TV work with Loisa, but only supported her in the technical production. Of course she also QSted (carried out quality assurance) on our Spanish broadcasts when it came to video editing. However, the decision as to whether the broadcast could be published as it was always up to Loisa. Do the statements from 10vor10 (SRF) correspond to your experience? Ms. Christ only worked on the S&G editorial team for a short time - from November 2012 to September 2013. This time was actually a trial period in which she only wrote a total of 8 articles for S&G, which were also processed into Kla.TV broadcasts at the same time (5 of which have been uploaded to Kla.TV). It was not until August 2013 that I asked her whether she would be interested in working with the editorial team, specifically to support her father in the field of business/finance (correspondence from that time is in our archive as evidence). At the time, she enthusiastically agreed. But a permanent collaboration never came about, as Ms. Christ left the OCG in September 2013. So she had no real insight into how we work in the editorial team. This is also shown by her statement that sources are not checked for credibility, but only clicked to see whether the link even exists. Either Ms. Christ is deliberately distorting a connection here or she is confusing something: This "link check" as she calls it is part of the typesetting process at a S&G. I never had anything to do with Miriam Christ. I knew her personally, but we had no contact in the editorial department. Even then, the editorial management was in the hands of Bettina Bxxxx. As the editorial manager in my region, I was directly connected to her. I also knew all the people in charge in other regions and we always had a lively exchange with each other. I was always there at the national editorial meetings with Bettina and Miriam Christ never took part in them. What I have to say about Miriam Christ's statement: "I wrote articles myself at the time and the only fact-check that took place was that the link was clicked and we looked to see if this reporting really existed. But this task was not part of the actual work of the editors. When writing articles, we on the editorial team were instructed from the start to use trustworthy sources for our S&G articles. Even if sources supported our opinion, we still had a list of sources that were not trustworthy. For example, a well-known source at the time that we did not use was "Schall und Rauch". The finished articles written by us editors then went to another department of the editorial department. There, staff specially trained for this purpose checked the sources of evidence for the articles again to see if they were trustworthy. Only then were the various articles compiled into a new S&G. Once the new S&G had been set, someone then carried out quality assurance again to see whether the sources could still be opened.en (sometimes it happens that something changes in the link due to manipulation during setting and it can no longer be opened). Not like SRF is lying about Miriam Christ, about a person who was only a small part of the now global broadcaster for a few months. I didn't even know Miriam Christ until the SRF broadcast and never noticed her. And this despite the fact that we have had numerous editorial meetings since Kla.TV was launched. I rate the statements in the SRF report on Kla.TV as lying reporting at its highest level! The SRF broadcast gives the impression that Kla.TV is deliberately producing fake news. And this is presented to viewers with the lie that they are dealing with a Kla.TV director who has been with them for years. SRF statements: "The fake news factory", "The former director of Kla.TV talks about the dubious methods used by the channel." The accuracy of the spoken texts is of particular concern to me. The lack of care in terms of quality assurance at SRF and Miriam Christ raises questions for me, especially since SRF is a professional broadcaster and Kla.TV is a voluntary broadcaster. I am of the opinion that the quality standards should at least be at a comparable level and not that a voluntary broadcaster should exceed the quality standards of a professional broadcaster.
