Because Orbán's goal is to achieve a ceasefire in order to use the time for clarifying negotiations between the warring parties. According to Orbán, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers die on the front every week. From a human, even Christian, point of view, this must be stopped immediately. Orbán is using the talks with the Ukrainian and Russian heads of state to listen to their positions, motives and goals without judgment. This is exactly what exemplary peace diplomacy is, namely to approach each other and listen to each other, says Roger Köppel in Weltwoche. According to freelance journalist Alexander Raue, diplomatic talks are also urgently needed because the Ukraine conflict is on the verge of an excessive escalation. North Korea has promised Russia unconditional support and wants to send soldiers to Ukraine as early as July 2024, i.e. this month. At the same time, China wants to send soldiers to Belarus. Together with the Russian army, this would mean that three of the world's strongest armies would be on the scene. Orbán's peace mission is therefore not a betrayal of the EU states, but rather a way of protecting them from falling into the knife with their war-supporting policies. According to Weltwoche on July 11, Orbán asked Turkish head of state Erdogan to act as a mediator in order to achieve the much-needed ceasefire. The most important thing at stake is human life. What a completely different view of things, which the leading western media are carefully withholding from EU citizens. For Roger Köppel, Orbán's punishment from Brussels also presents an opportunity. The defamation of Orbán's peace mission as a betrayal clearly shows the EU leadership's disenchantment with peace. This offers EU citizens the chance to reflect on whether the EU leaders are really the people's representatives that they want for their country. So much for Weltwoche's counter-voice to the leading media. Alexandros Boufesis from the internet portal warnews247.gr wants to emphasize that Orbán's peace mission may not be entirely selfless. Orbán is concerned about the fate of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine and a part of the Ukrainian territory that historically belonged to Hungary. So much for Alexandros Boufesis. What is actually and ultimately going on behind the scenes of the world stage, what script the current political moves are based on and what role the individual politicians play in this, cannot be conclusively answered in this program.
