In order to be able to implement the energy transition with regard to wind turbines, the Wind Energy Area Requirements Act was introduced specifically for this purpose. Of course, it's once again about fighting climate change. As is so often the case, only what comes out is taken into account, but not what has to be spent on it.

On February 1st, 2023, the Wind Energy Area Requirements Act came into force in the Federal Republic.
With this law, the federal government obliges the states to designate a certain percentage of the state's area for wind energy by the end of 2032. For the city states of Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen this proportion is 0.5% of the area, for the other states it is between 1.8% and 2.2%. In Bavaria alone, there are around 1,270 km² for wind turbines - an area half the size of Saarland!
In order to achieve this goal, the federal government changed the Federal Nature Conservation Act so that landscape protection areas can now be used.
Wind energy is an almost inexhaustible source of energy, whose potential is only partially exploited today - this is how it is always described by supporters of the energy transition. Of course, one would also like to combat climate change, which is always mentioned, since this technology would not produce any CO2. As is so often the case, only what “comes out” is taken into account or presented in a media-effective way, but not what has to be spent on it. This essentially affects the following areas:
1. Environmental impact
The term environmental policy was created around 1970 and describes the entirety of political efforts to preserve the natural basis of life for people and nature. The wind turbines are supposedly built not least to protect the environment. However, are they really a blessing for the environment?
1a) Deforestation
In the past, the forest's greatest enemies were drought, storms and bark beetles, but now wind turbines must also be included. For example, in Reinhardswald in Hesse, 29 hectares of forest with trees up to 195 years old may be cleared for 18 planned wind turbines. Afterwards, the forest can no longer be realized as a forest, but rather as an industrial facility with tree connections. The large swathes that are cut into the forest create more edges. Trees that can stand in such places die because they are much more exposed to wind and drought, which causes such paths to spread further. Although parts are reforested after the wind turbines are built, it takes many decades for nature to restore a healthy forest floor full of humus.
1b) Resource consumption
To build a wind turbine, not only the mast and the rotor are necessary, but also an extensive network of paths to transport the parts of the wind turbine. In order for the whole thing to stay standing, it also needs a stable foundation. We can see what is needed for this at the Altdorfer Wald wind farm property. 39 wind turbines with a height of 285 m are to be built here. These objects are more than 5 times as tall as an average church tower. This requires a foundation with a size of 1500 m³. In the case of the Altdorf Forest, a total of 58,500 m³ of concrete is required for 39 wind turbines. In order to be able to deliver this concrete, mobile concrete mixers for 7.5 m³ have to make a total of 15,600 trips.
In addition, over 45,000 gravel truck trips are required to deliver the gravel to expand the 27 km route.
1c) Changes in flora and fauna
Thousands of bats and birds fall victim to wind turbines every year. According to projections, there are more than 200,000 bats per year in Germany alone, which is why some bat species are already threatened. The danger to the animals lies not only in the fact that they fly into the rotor blades. The drop in pressure behind the rotor blades causes the animals' lungs and internal organs to burst.
In a 2017 study using model calculations, the German Aerospace Center found that around 1,200 billion insects fall victim to wind turbines every year. That's about 3 billion insects per day. The remains of flying insects on rotor blades also contribute to high losses in the efficiency of the system.
It is not only threatening to the animal population, threats are also evident in the landscape. In some places, trees on slopes are cut down, which subsequently increases the risk of soil erosion and landslides.
1d) legacy issues
Wind turbines are currently designed to last 20 years. The entire system would then have to be dismantled and disposed of. It is more than questionable whether the concrete foundations will actually be dismantled in any case.
Due to the poisons and composites they contain, there is still no concept for recycling the wings, which is why this problematic waste must be disposed of. The rotor blades alone generate 20,000 tons of waste every year - and the trend is rising.
Interim conclusion: The Green Party once campaigned to protect the environment. In the meantime, however, they are more involved in destroying theenvironment reached. While construction projects are stopped because of the presence of a beetle, the nature conservation law for wind turbines has even been changed so that many bird species, such as storks, are no longer among the species endangered by wind power. According to a legal report commissioned by the Nature Conservation Association (NABU), applicable EU law on species protection was even violated. This technology is also not resource-saving if it was only designed for such a short period of time and then leaves behind substances whose disposal has not yet been clarified. The ideological goals are now given more attention than environmental protection.
2. Climatic changes
Germany alone currently has 32,000 wind turbines in operation. This has led to a reduction in average wind speed of 13% over the last 20 years, as determined by the University of Osnabrück. This is not without consequences.
2a) Changed air circulation
In the USA, 2.5 times as much wind energy is generated as in Germany. These serious interventions can dramatically reduce the air currents from the equator to the North Pole, which would result in a lowering of the jet stream in southern latitudes. After that, a thinning of the air layers over the North Pole would be possible, which would result in lower reflection and thus warming of the region.
2b) Drying out of the soil
The interactions between wind power turbines and air layers have a decisive influence on the heat and moisture flows between the surface and the atmosphere. The air flow is slowed down in front of the wind turbines and swirled behind it. At every large wind farm, moisture is removed from the atmosphere, especially in summer, and the ground is additionally warmed.
A current study from China shows the devastating consequences that wind farms have on their surroundings.
The effects of a Chinese wind farm on the border with Mongolia were examined. It was found that soil moisture was reduced by 4.1 percent per year. The complicated mechanisms are not yet fully understood, but what is certain is that the wind farms actually lead to a drying out of the soil on which they are built. In the worst case, it can lead to droughts and soil erosion, which also extend to the wider periphery.
Interim conclusion: The use of wind energy is being promoted to counteract climate change supposedly caused by CO2. The drying out of the soil in particular is shown to us boldly and with apocalyptic images as a result of climate change. However, current studies show that wind turbines in particular can lead to drought.
3. Damage to health
Wind turbines can cause a variety of health problems such as difficulty concentrating, nervousness, headaches and sleep disorders. The main dangers are infrasound and shadows. In winter there is also the danger of ice.
3a) Ice cream
In unfavorable weather conditions, ice can form on the rotor blades. Then there is even a risk to life: the rotor blades can throw chunks of ice away over long distances.
3b) Infrasound
Infrasound is sound whose frequency is below the human hearing range - i.e. below 16 Hz. Some people who live near wind turbines report symptoms such as fatigue, depression or even seasickness. The heart surgeon Christian-Friedrich Vahl scientifically investigated the phenomenon as head of the infrasound working group at the Mainz University Hospital. According to him, this occurs when the rotor blade runs along the mast, which compresses the air and creates short, steep pulses. Infrasound also occurs in nature; it is perceived as noise, but is not pulsed. You can also feel the impulses that occur here physically. It is comparable to a visitor standing in front of the bass speakers at a rock concert and being able to physically perceive the sound. However, the pulses that a wind turbine generates are much more massive.
3c) Drop shadow
The operation of wind turbines causes a moving shadow in the sun, which can also lead to significant annoyances such as difficulty concentrating, nervousness, headaches and sleep disorders for those affected. The shadow cast by the rotor is unpleasant for many people because it causes periodic fluctuations in brightness. According to the Federal/State Working Group on Immission Control (LAI), when approving wind turbines, it must be ensured that the theoretically possible shading period for a house of 30 hours per calendar year or 30 minutes per day is not exceeded. If necessary, switch-off technology must be used to ensure that the actual duration of shadows is limited to 8 hours per calendar year and 30 minutes per dayearth. If a house is exposed to the shadow of several wind turbines, the values apply to all systems together!
Interim conclusion: The polluter pays principle always applies to ordinary citizens. Shouldn't this also apply to operators of wind turbines? If such a system demonstrably leads to health problems in the population, the system would have to be switched off, regardless of whether a specified number of hours of exposure has been reached or not. The question therefore arises as to why these systems are approved at all.
4 The energy transition is becoming unaffordable
4a) Actual performance of wind turbines
The operators guard the utilization of their wind farms like a state secret. The new Zürcher Zeitung examined 18,000 wind turbines in Germany - with sobering results. Almost a quarter of the systems examined could not even demonstrate a capacity factor of 20%. Only 15% of the facilities had an estimated utilization of more than 30%. Almost all of these are near the coast.
4b) Consumers pay the loss bill
At the end of January 2024, the four electricity network operators presented the calculation of what wind and solar power costs us: The expansion of wind and solar power plants means that more electricity is produced than required when there is strong wind or strong solar radiation. The electricity prices on the exchange then fall to zero or even negative, so that additional money has to be paid to purchase it. Nevertheless, wind system operators receive 7.35 €ct/kWh in guaranteed feed-in tariffs, solar system operators even receive 11 to 13 €ct/kWh. Increasingly, even when there is excess wind production, systems have to be switched off so that too much electricity does not end up in the system. But even when there is a standstill, the money flows as if the operators had produced the electricity. This cost consumers around €1 billion in 2022, without them receiving anything in return.
4c) Network expansion costs
Due to the wind conditions, most wind farms are located in northern Germany.
In order to bring the electricity to the industrial sites in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, the power grid must also be expanded. Costs of €300 billion are planned for the necessary expansion of high-voltage lines by 2045 and a further €150 billion for the distribution networks in cities and municipalities.
To promote the expansion of wind farms in the low-wind southern region, a correction factor of 50% to 60% was provided for in the EEG Act 2023 for this region. This means that further subsidies will be provided for wind power because it is not possible to operate wind turbines economically with the existing subsidies in southern Germany.
Interim conclusion: The wind farms are not efficient for a business location like Germany. Without subsidies from ideologically driven politics, hardly any investor would invest in this technology, as such systems would not be able to hold their own on the market under competitive conditions. Due to these conditions, the electricity produced is becoming more and more unaffordable for consumers. Private individuals are losing their standard of living and companies are increasingly moving abroad. Economics Minister Robert Habeck would say: In Germany the industry will not be insolvent, it will just stop producing.
Final point:
Wind energy is always presented to us as a form of energy that is particularly environmentally friendly and climate-friendly. However, as we can see, both are not true. On the other hand, it is an unreliable way of generating energy and is also particularly expensive for the consumer. But why is it still being pushed forward and who is interested in it?
A plausible answer to this question could be the following:
“You will own nothing and be happy” is a phrase taken from a 2016 World Economic Forum (WEF) video summarizing an essay by Danish politician Ida Auken. Ida Auken is part of the WEF's Young Global Leader program. That would be ideal for the WEF and its backers. Anything anyone needs is received as a service. On the one hand, this service would be good business, and on the other hand, everyone would become a transparent citizen.
To do this, existing structures in the economy and population would first have to be dismantled and a plan would be needed on how to do this without resistance from the population.
It would be conceivable that all goods would become more expensive so that the population would no longer be able to make a living and would therefore have to use up all their reserves.
Energy costs are priced into most goods because they are necessary to produce the goods. The electricity price would therefore be an adjusting screw that could be used to increase the price of goods. The nuclear power plants were shut down and due to the sanctionsIf we fight against Russia, we will no longer get cheap natural gas. Accordingly, the cheapest options for generating electricity have disappeared.
There is either a lot of electricity from wind power and the price on the electricity exchange is close to zero, or the wind blows too little and the electricity has to be bought expensively from abroad. This drives up the price of electricity and thus the price of the goods produced. In the long term, companies would not be able to survive in such an environment. They either stop producing completely or emigrate. What remains is a population with a high number of unemployed people who are no longer able to make a living due to high energy costs. The WEF and its backers would have achieved their goal - a population that is at the mercy of the elites and willingly submits.

4 The energy transition is becoming unaffordable 4a) Actual performance of wind turbines The operators guard the utilization of their wind farms like a state secret. 4b) Consumers pay the loss bill At the end of January 2024, the four electricity network operators presented the calculation of what wind and solar power costs us: The expansion of wind and solar power plants means that more electricity is produced than required when there is strong wind or strong solar radiation. 4c) Network expansion costs Due to the wind conditions, most wind farms are located in northern Germany. Final point: Wind energy is always presented to us as a form of energy that is particularly environmentally friendly and climate-friendly. However, as we can see, both are not true. On the other hand, it is an unreliable way of generating energy and is also particularly expensive for the consumer. But why is it still being pushed forward and who is interested in it? A plausible answer to this question could be the following: “You will own nothing and be happy” is a phrase taken from a 2016 World Economic Forum (WEF) video summarizing an essay by Danish politician Ida Auken.
