Elon Musks SpaceX samarbejder med schweiziske mobiludbydere, selv om deres mobilnetværk allerede har en dækning på 99,9 %. I en pressemeddelelse opfordrer foreningen Schutz vor Strahlung det schweiziske forbundsråd til at modvirke denne "bestråling fra oven". Der fremføres mindre kendte, men ikke desto mindre vægtige og spændende argumenter.

Et marketingkup uden fortilfælde: Salt annoncerer, at de samarbejder med Elon Musks SpaceX om at forsyne befolkningen i det fjerneste hjørne af Schweiz med 5G. Hvad nogle fejrer som en teknologisk triumf, er en udvikling, som foreningen "beskyttelse mod stråling" følger med bekymring - især på grund af risikoen for øget stråling, som mennesker og dyr udsættes for udendørs gennem "bestråling fra oven". [...] Så Salt er stolt af sit nye partnerskab med den amerikanske koncern. Men hvad er pointen? Salt har allerede en mobildækning på 99,9 % - hvilket naturligvis stadig ikke er nok. Salt ønsker at opnå fuldstændig dækning. Men hvor fornuftigt er det i et land, der allerede har et af de bedste mobilnetværk i verden? [...] Kritiske stemmer Forskere verden over advarer allerede om den forurening af nattehimlen, som de utallige satellitter i rummet forårsager. Et åbent brev blev offentliggjort i det anerkendte videnskabsmagasin Nature, hvor forskere med bekymring påpeger, at missiler allerede forstyrrer vigtige billeder taget af Hubble-rumteleskopet. [...] Udover lysforurening er en anden miljøkatastrofe under opsejling i rummet: Starlink-satellitterne har en levetid på omkring fem år, hvorefter de brænder op i Jordens øvre atmosfære. Ude af øje ude af sind? Nej, slet ikke. Tilbage står de anvendte materialer, først og fremmest aluminium. Med de tusindvis af satellitter fra forskellige producenter truer aluminiumskoncentrationen med at stige faretruende, hvilket i sidste ende også skader ozonlaget, der beskytter mod UV-stråling. [...] Bestråling fra oven. Og hvilken yderligere strålingseksponering kan man forvente fra sådanne satellitter? "Det er svært at vurdere i øjeblikket," siger Rebekka Meier, formand for beskyttelse mod stråling, "men det er klart målbart." Producenterne hævder, at strålingen er ekstremt koncentreret. Men i virkeligheden bestråles en større radius af modtageren, fordi signalet spredes over den 550 kilometer lange afstand fra satellittens bane til jorden. Der er allerede klare indikationer på, at især insektpopulationer er i fare på grund af den stadigt stigende strålingseksponering i Schweiz. Selv om Forbundsrådet ikke anerkender dette, som vi påpegede i den sidste artikel. Desuden påpeger Rebekka Meier: "Vi kan forvente en stigning i antallet af mennesker, der rammes af stråling. Allerede i dag siger ti procent af den schweiziske befolkning, at deres helbred eller velbefindende er påvirket af stråling - og tendensen er desværre stigende." Der er også risiko for, at dit hoved bliver for meget varmt, når du foretager opkald med en normal smartphone via en satellitforbindelse. Der findes vejledende værdier, men smartphonen har brug for en vis mængde strøm for at kunne etablere en dataforbindelse. Det er derfor forventeligt, at den tilladte transmissionseffekt overskrides. Der vil gå noget tid, før den innovation, som Salt har annonceret, bliver til virkelighed. Ikke desto mindre er Elon Musks køreplan velkendt: internet overalt, modtagelse overalt og til enhver tid. For de tech-visionære burde strålingseksponeringen også stige ovenfra - til ærgrelse for befolkningen, dyr og planter, som alle udsættes for øget strålingseksponering som følge heraf. Vi opfordrer derfor Forbundsrådet til også at formulere regler for dataforbindelser i rummet, der tager højde for forsigtighedsprincippet. Og vi opfordrer dig til at fortsætte med konsekvent at modsætte dig planlagte 5G-sendere i dit nabolag. Med taktikken om at gøre indsigelser mod så meget udbygning som muligt, har vi alle sammen bremset 5G-netværket. Det er det værd! Du har det sidste ord!
