Gesprochener Text Dr. Helmut Traindl is the managing director of Traindl-consult, an engineering firm for technical environmental protection. He is an engineer in technical chemistry, has a doctorate in geology and earth/geosciences as well as specialist training as a safety expert. On October 20, 2022, Traindl published a new report on the “Ineffectiveness of masks as virus protection and adverse health effects”. In 191 pages he presents the state of the science in detail. On the one hand, he shows that masks are completely unsuitable for virus protection. On the other hand, he also discusses the serious health risks that continuous use poses for the wearer. By means of various metrological tests, it has been proven that air contaminated with carbon dioxide collects under the masks which is then breathed back in. The oxygen content in the blood of the mask wearer decreases. This leads to health problems. Symptoms range from headaches and drowsiness to reduced concentration, shortness of breath, dizziness and circulatory failure. In addition, the testing standards for medical masks as well as for FFP2 masks do not provide for the testing of harmful ingredients. In addition to adhesives, organic solvents, volatile organic hydrocarbons, formaldehyde [explanation: a gas with a pungent odor, can cause allergies, skin, respiratory or eye irritation if used improperly], siloxanes [explanation: organic silicon compounds, classified as hazardous substances in cosmetics], metals and titanium oxide nanoparticles have already been detected in masks. Moreover, microfiber particles from the fleece of the mask were found in the lungs and blood. If one also considers the impairment of interpersonal communication and the devastating effects of forcing children to wear masks on their social and linguistic development, the question arises as to what “benefit” is there compared to these risks. Traindl concludes that the masks are a “means of spreading irrational fear” which leads to social distancing and invalidates critical thinking.
