My body, my choice - also with vaccination?

"My body, my choice" - definitely a good attitude. I'm sure you've heard this saying so often in the past few weeks. Not only in the context of the abortion debate in the U.S., but also here in Germany, the SPD is speaking out for the abolition of paragraph 219a, with the slogan "Because your body belongs to you". In terms of women's rights and abortion laws, this outcry is very large and is supported by versatile social networks, media and politicians. But, what about with the personal, individual decision about my own body with the Covid19 vaccination? Hi, I am Tabitha. A few months ago mandatory vaccination for medical personnel was introduced in Germany and somehow you don't really hear anything about it anymore. Possibly this is due to the fact that so far it has"only" remained a threat and the employees in the medical field simply can not be fired, because otherwise there would be a severe shortage of staff. As was already predicted. I’ve been lucky so far and have not been directly affected by the issue. But since I’m looking for work now in the medical field again, I was randomly confronted with it. After all my applications were accepted and I had almost signed the respective employment contract, I was eliminated in the end because of the missing vaccination. For me, despite the crushed career opportunities, it is clear that my body belongs to me and that I will not make myself available for these experimental vaccines. And yes, that takes courage not to get vaccinated, especially as a young professional where you want to take advantage of every opportunity. One of my friends, unfortunately, has not been able to withstand this pressure, as she too was unable to get a job without vaccination and now needs the stamp: "vaccinated", in order to realize her job aspirations. I realized that compulsory vaccination is really real and existential, and especially young professionals and job changers are strongly affected by it. Let me just add something here about this: It is really remarkable that the actual strengths, like competence, education, professionalism and medical knowledge are no longer at the top of the list, but the stamp "vaccinated" or "unvaccinated" is decisive. Now I still want to address my generation! Stay true to your convictions and don't buckle because your professional career may be at risk. Of course, I hope that the saying "My body, my choice" also applies to Covid vaccination and that we will soon overturn it all. But until then, we just have to stay strong together. To wrap this up nicely, I brought you one of my favorite sayings: "Hearing your inner voice is a matter of your mindfulness, following it then too, is a matter of your courage." So, stay not only mindful, but also brave!
