Privatization - a silent global coup d'état

A silent, global coup d'état is underway in full view of everyone and yet hidden: We have become accustomed to the privatization of basic services in health care, transportation, food, education and high-tech etc. by multinational corporations. In Germany, for example, the postal service, railroads, electricity companies and many more have been privatized. This transfer of national wealth could only happen be-cause of the claim that large corporations are more competent in finding solutions than a bureaucracy. According to author Nick Buxton, this covert but highly consistent shift in power originates with the agenda of the World Economic Forum, WEF, which is generously funded by multinational conglomerates. Through massive lobbying, these corpora-tions have managed to dramatically reduce taxes for mammoth corporations. The money saved this way is generously "donated" by the large corporations to private institutions, thus building up an infrastructure which increasingly takes over tasks in politics and administration, be it through consulting contracts or similar. Like this, these large corporations have been able to amass an enormous amount of power at the expense of weakened states. As a further strategic step, the World Economic Forum launched the Global Redesign Initiative after the financial crisis in 2009. This initiative includes some 40 Global Agenda Councils, whose networks consist of experts from business, government, in-ternational organizations, academia and civil society. In the area of global governance, the WEF thus created platforms for corporate actors across the spectrum of govern-ment issues, from cyber-security to climate change. The lie behind this is: nations can no longer solve problems through global collabora-tion - so corporate influence must be promoted all the way into governments!
