Duński lekarz i pracownik naukowy Peter C. Gøtzsche, profesor projektowania i analizy badań klinicznych na Uniwersytecie w Kopenhadze, stwierdził już 2012, że te same firmy farmaceutyczne kilkakrotnie popełniały podobne przestępstwa, należy więc przyjąć, że uczyniły to celowo. W jego artykule: "Przestępstwa gospodarcze w przemyśle farmaceutycznym”, są szeroko rozpowszechnione, poważne i powtarzające się, opisuje on sprawy sądowe dziesięciu największych firm farmaceutycznych na świecie w latach 2007 – 2012. Jako czyny przestępcze, na przykład: jest fałszowanie wyników badań przez firmy farmaceutyczne Roche i Sanofi-Aventis, ukrywanie danych o stratach przez firmy farmaceutyczne Roche i Johnson & Johnson, oszustwa wobec funduszy ubezpieczeń zdrowotnych przez firmy farmaceutyczne Merck, Abbott, Sanofi-Aventis i Johnson & Johnson lub nielegalna reklama nie dopuszczonych na rynek leków poza zatwierdzonymi ramami przez firmy Pfizer, Merck, Novartis, Glaxo-SmithKline, Astra Zeneca i Eli Lilly. Przestępstwa te kosztowałyby każdą z firm farmaceutycznych do 3 (trzech) miliardów dolarów, a jak wysokie muszą być marże zysku, aby taka gra z sądownictwem była warta zachodu?
