In diesem weiteren Teil unserer Sendungen zum Thema „Digitale Bildung“ zeigen wir auf, wie sich ein früher und intensiver Umgang mit digitalen Medien auf das geistige Wohlbefinden der Schüler auswirkt. Der Psychiater und Medientherapeut Bert te Wildt beschreibt in seinem Buch „Digitale Junkies“ das Smartphone als Suchtmittel und Einstiegsdroge. Mit bewusst eingebauten Belohnungsmechanismen werden die Menschen an diese digitalen Geräte gefesselt: Jedes Mal, wenn der Nutzer das Gerät einschaltet, sieht er eine nette WhatsApp-Nachricht, eine interessante Schlagzeile oder ein neues E-Mail. Dass diese Mechanismen wirken, bestätigt das Ergebnis einer „BLIKK-Studie“*:
„Mehr als 60 % der 9- bis 10-jährigen Kinder können sich weniger als 30 Minuten ohne Nutzung von digitalen Medien beschäftigen.“
Auch das deutsche Ärzteblatt berichtete bereits im Dezember 2016, dass die Internet- und Spielsucht bei Jugendlichen dramatisch ansteigt. Verschiedenste Studien zeigen zudem, dass die Internetabhängigkeit häufig mit Suizidgedanken, Depressionen, ADHS (Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-Hyperaktivitätssyndrom), Autismus, Aggressivität und Suchterkrankungen einhergeht.
Die Internet- und Smartphone-Sucht hat zudem einen entscheidenden Einfluss auf das Lernverhalten der Schüler. Digitale Medien verleiten Kinder dazu, beim Hausaufgaben machen nebenher zu twittern, zu mailen, WhatsApp zu beantworten und Musik zu hören. Durch die Reizüberflutung wird das Gelernte aus dem Kurzzeitgedächtnis nicht mehr im Langzeitgedächtnis abgespeichert. Prof. Alexander Markowetz von der Universität Bonn beschreibt in seinem Buch „Digitaler Burnout“, dass solch ein Leben mit seinen ständigen Unterbrechungen den produktiven Fluss verhindert. Vieles werde gleichzeitig, aber nichts „richtig“ gemacht. Dies wirke sich negativ auf die geistige Leistungsfähigkeit und Gesundheit aus, es mache unproduktiv und schließlich unglücklich.
